Gas analyzer

Maihak S710 Analyzer

Gas chemical species concentration measurement equipment by an NDIR (non dispersive infrared sensor), based on the Beer-Lambert Law. This piece of equipment comes with a chamber, which is occupied by a volume of gas possessing the species of interest; on one of the chamber sides there is a source of radiant energy, which is generally a deuterium and tungsten source lamp. On one of the chamber´s extremes there is an interference filter or optical filter eliminating all the light, except the one with a wavelength capable to be absorbed by the gas molecules of interest. After the filter there is the detector, which compares the light´s wavelength received to the length of that emitted by the lamp. Thus, to the extent the gas concentration increases, a greater amount of radiation is absorbed and the detector´s signal is reduced in consonance. This way reading the concentrations of CO, CO2 and CH4 of combustion gases. The equipment also incorporates a magnetic cell to measure the O2 concentration.

Thermo 48i-HL Analyzer

Chemioluminescent equipment for the measurement of nitric oxide (NO) and nitrous oxide (N2O) concentrations in exhaust gases. This equipment takes advantage of the generation of high frequency photons given off the excited nitrous oxide when the reaction occurs between the nitric oxide and the ozone:

NO +O3 → NO2* + O2

NO2*  → NO2 + hν

Being this an equipment governed by a chemical reaction, the measurement precision is given by the reaction rate, factor which at the same time depends on multiple factors as the amount of reagents, the pressure and temperature at which the reaction is given and the residence time of elements in the reaction chamber.
